Afraid of going to the dentist? You’re Not Alone

Are you afraid of going to the dentist? You’re not alone. In fact, up to 20% of Americans are afraid of the dentist to the point that they will actually avoid going at any cost. This is why we strive to create a calm and warm atmosphere to ease anxiety and stress for our patients.  We know of a few crucial tips to help ease dental phobia/anxiety on your next visit.

#1. Text Your Dentist

A lot of the stress that arises before a dental visit is a fear of the unknown. Some patients suffer from so much dental anxiety that they can’t even sleep the night before! One of the best ways to deal with this is to ask us any questions before and even after your visit. Our staff is available by texting our office line, 423.713.555 with any questions. This isn’t an automated system, there are real people on the other end willing to answer any questions about what to expect on your first visit and to ease any concerns or fears. Feel free to text any time and someone will respond as soon as possible!

#2. Go to a “Goop Free” Dental Office

Dental goop, which is used to make impressions of your teeth, can cause a lot of anxiety for people that suffer from gag reflexes.  We strive to call our office “goop free.” We believe in offering the most stress-free experience to our patients by utilizing cutting edge, non-invasive techniques and staying patient-focused. Instead of using “goop” to make a mold of your teeth, we use 3D imagery at our office to make an accurate model of your teeth and jaw.

#3. Go to a Dentist that Truly Cares About the Patient’s Comfort

It’s upsetting to hear from new patients about how awful a previous dental visit may have been. Dr. Roberts cares deeply about your comfort and fears and works hard to clearly explain what is going to happen and to make sure that your dental procedure is considerably less painful than expected or even pain-free.

We are Here to Help!

Let us help you get over your fears of dentists and help you maintain healthy teeth! Just send us a text to set up your next appointment or ask a question. Dr. Roberts or one of our highly qualified office staff will be in touch with you shortly.
